Artist Biography
Christopher Weber worked as an instrumental music instructor for Union-Endicott Schools in Endicott, New York 1979 to 2009. Chris currently directs the Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble program at Broome County Community College, Binghamton, New York.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Keene State College, and a Masters degree in Music Education from Ithaca College.
He is active as a conductor/performer on trumpet throughout New York State and he founded (2010) and directs the Endicott Community Band in Endicott, New York.
Chris regularly plays trumpet with a variety of musical organizations, including PRISM, Jazz Exchange, The Southern Tier Brass Quintet, The Binghamton Philharmonic Orchestra, and the internationally known Sammy Kaye Orchestra, The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra and The Guy Lombardo Orchestra. For many years Chris has played trumpet in back up bands for such performers as Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, Natalie Cole, Kenny Rogers, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Tony Bennett, Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdinck, Liberace, Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, The Rat Pack is Back and recently for the National Touring Company of the Broadway musical “Chicago”.
Chris is active as a NYSSMA Adjudicator and guest conductor/clinician, and was the Instrumental Jazz Editor for the NYSSMA publication the School Music News for ten years. Chris has served on the NYSSMA Selection Committee for Jazz since 1994. He served as the Large Jazz Ensemble Editor for the NYSSMA Manual for ten years as well.
He is a former President of the New York State Unit of The International Association of Jazz Educators. Chris has worked for the Local 380 American Federation of Musicians as the Administrator for The Recording Industries Music Performance Trust Funds for ten years, and is currently chairman of the MPF scholarship committee for Local 380.
Chris lives with his wife Martha at their home in Owego, New York.
